Description

Growing your small business with the Father of Economic Gardening

Featuring
Chris Gibbons,
founder, National Center for Economic Gardening

Economic gardening is an entrepreneurial approach to economic development that seeks to grow the local economy from within, primarily focused on helping Emerging Growth companies with 10-100 employees expand.  The program seeks to connect entrepreneurs with the strategic and technical expertise they need to grow and create jobs, but typically don’t have access to.  Since 2016, 18 Richardson companies have completed the program with successful results, including three of the companies being acquired by large companies and receiving substantial cash infusions.

Chris Gibbons, often referred to as the “Father of Economic Gardening” will share details about how the programs works, and why he thinks this unique “grow from within” economic development strategy is important for communities to support and implement.  Chris founded the National Center for Economic Gardening (NCEG) after 20 years of experience implementing Economic Gardening programs throughout the country.  NCEG was established to help states, regions and communities set up and run Economic Gardening programs.   Learn more about Chris Gibbons and the NCEG here.
